Some Pre-Session Tips.

Help put yourself at ease and take a look at some of our tried and true tips to prepare for your boudoir session!

The thought of booking a boudoir session can be exhilarating but can also be a bit intimidating! We’re here to help put you at ease and feel a bit more prepared for your upcoming experience. Let us preface this with letting you know not to worry, we will coach you through all of the poses on the day and tweak specifics while in the poses.

Let us start with one of the most important, and one of the most under-estimated tips of boudoir! This is to do some basic stretches leading up to the session! Some of the poses we will direct you into may feel a bit bendy to say the least. This absolutely isn’t something we will require from you at all, but it will help you feel more comfortable in some of the more complicated poses. After all, a comfortable client makes for an even more beautiful and powerful client. And trust us… those complicated poses are well worth the final shot! We also want to note that if you are injured, tight, or your body just isn’t feeling being in certain poses, there is nothing to worry about, we are more than able to alter all of our poses to help you feel more comfortable!

Our second tip of boudoir is that posture is important! Posture can make all of the difference within an image and there is a fine line between poor posture, proper posture, and looking stiff. Generally speaking, “proper” boudoir posture during the shoot will mostly mean your shoulders will be back and down and your chin will be slightly up. We will, of course, help you walk that line by directing you while you’re within these poses. But, it is helpful to be mindful of posture while going into a photo shoot. This is coming from someone who has awful posture… so trust me when I say, if I can pull off proper boudoir posture, you’ll be able to as well!

And finally, tip number three! If you want to remove any hair on your legs, underarms, arms, bikini line or anywhere else we recommend you plan when is best for your body to do so. Hair removal of any kind is obviously not a requirement, in whichever way you are comfortable taking photos is best, however if you do decide to opt for hair removal, there are some things we can recommend. If you don’t opt for hair removal, we recommend tidying those areas, as we do get quite close and personal during these shoots! If you do opt for hair removal, there are a few ways that you can do so, but what you decide will obviously depend on you and your body.

Me personally, I would get a brazilian/bikini line wax, I know it’s not pleasant, but it is absolutely the best and most efficient option for my body! I would also get the wax about 5 days before the shoot, allowing any irritations to recede before hand. This will depend on your bodies reaction to hair removal, so if you are going to opt for a wax, make sure you’ve done a practice wax a few months prior to figure out how quickly you hair grows back and how long it takes for your hair to get to the length when it can be waxed again. Remember, if you keep up with waxing, your hair generally takes longer to grow back and grows back less dense. I would likely shave my legs and armpits the day before, as that’s what works best for my body and hair growth. I want to be clear though, this will not be the same for everyone! We recommend making a practice run with how you want to manage any hair removal before your shoot. Set a date maybe three months before hand, pretend this is your shoot date and ensure your hair removal timing and techniques are efficient and suitable to your body. If you’re boudoir shoot is a bit last minute, my advice would be to stick to what you know. If you’ve gotten waxes before, know how your body responds or do so commonly, then stick with that! If you commonly shave and know how your body responds, then shave prior to your shoot. It’s much better to have to edit any ingrown or stray hairs, than to have any irritants during the shoot making you uncomfortable. What I’m saying is; If it’s not broken, don’t fix it! And if there are temporary blemishes or marks, we can always fix these details post shoot.

Realistically, a comfortable you is a sexy and confident you! We hope these tips have helped and we can’t wait to create beautiful images with you!

Let’s get real…

Let’s get real…

As the title says… let’s get real! Boudoir is quite an intimate moment in your life, and it can be hard to feel like anyone would make you feel comfortable enough to go for a session or to feel like you deserve a session! Believe me when I tell you, I’ve totally been there. Life isn’t always easy… things change, our bodies change and that can greatly affect our mental health. I’m sure most of us have felt ups and downs through-out average life, let alone with covid rearing its ugly head. But I want to be perfectly clear when I say … YOU ALWAYS DESERVE THIS! Don’t wait to lose those few kilos you’ve been wanting to lose, don’t wait until your life isn’t as crazy, don’t wait until you see yourself in a different light or until you’re out of your rut. This experience is meant to help you see that you, as you are, are exactly who you should be. It’s meant to pamper you, and help you realize you’ll be okay, and you’ll make it, no matter how wild things have gotten recently.

I know, it’s really easy to say these things vs. actually feeling like it’s real. It’s also very easy to feel like “treating yourself” isn’t justified, and you haven’t done enough to “deserve” an experience that focuses on you. You do. I’m not a psychiatrist, I’m also not just trying to get you to book a session for money. The entire reason why I’ve gone on this journey, is to help people see themselves as others actually do. Without the negative head space, without the “I don’t deserve it” thoughts. You, exactly as you are, now and in this moment, are deserving of love from others and more importantly, love from yourself.

This may be an extremely cheesy sounding post, but how can I expect any of you to be vulnerable with me, if I can’t be vulnerable with you. I have absolutely gone through these struggles in my life, I’m going through them in this very moment. I truly want the best for every one of my clients, I want to help you feel confident, and sexy, and like you’re worth a million bucks … if you don’t feel like that already! I want to welcome you to the wonderful world of boudoir and help you see how truly deserving you are of the most amazing things.

Types of lingerie and some of our fav venues to buy from!

If you’re a bit unsure on what to buy and wear for your shoot, look no further! We give a few of our favorite types of lingerie and our favorite places to help point you in the right direction.

In the world of lingerie the choices feel like they can be endless and overwhelming.. But have no fear! We’re here to steer you in the right direction and what you feel comfortable in. Most people are relatively familiar with the classic bra or bralette and undies combination, which is always a great choice! But we’re here to help you explore your options a bit further and to get a little bit more of a diverse lingerie collection.

Everyone obviously has their own taste, but my favorite lingerie item by far is a sexy teddy! A good teddy that cuts over your hips is not only sexy but is also a great option if you’re easing yourself into the lingerie world. There’s more coverage for anyone that’s not as comfortable exposing more skin but always looks beautiful and sexy! And of course, there is an entire range of teddys that show more skin if that is your preference as well.

Another favorite is a beautiful corset! Once again a corset looks absolutely gorgeous; it gives a beautiful and full hour glass shape, but also offers more coverage if this is of concern. My go to is a black corset with a shallow cut around the breasts, but there’s plenty of room to be creative with the type, shape and colors to a corset.

Of course, there’s plenty of other options… A bra/bralette/bustier and underwear set is great classic, and always recommended. Pair that with a matching garter, making it a three-piece set, and you’ve got a HUGE winner in our books. A slip or a baby-doll is great for a bit of a softer look. If you want to adventure into a bit of a kinky vibe, a body harness or suspenders on their own, or over top of a three piece set will absolutely satisfy that itch. If you’re a fan of the look of the teddy but want a bit of more of a cute and playful look, you’ll love a playsuit! And finally, literally nobody can go wrong with stockings! Especially a god pair of fishnets with high waisted black undies! I know this can be a lot to take in, don’t worry though, we can and will give you more specific advice to you before your shoot if you’re looking for it! We are also in the process of building our client closet that all of our sessions offer the use of.

Finally, our fav places to buy our lingerie from! This is will depend on the price range you’re looking for, but we have suggestions for most price ranges! If you’re looking at a low to mid-price range, we can suggest “prettylittlething”, ASOS (both online stores), Cotton on, and Madam Fru Fru. Out of these “prettylittlething” is one of my favs. It doesn’t actually seem like it would be a great spot to buy lingerie from, but it’s a reasonably priced online shop, has a HUGE amount of variety, and the items are reliable.

If you’re able to extend your budget to the mid to high price range we can suggest Kat the Label, Fantasy Lingerie, Bras N’ Things, and Bridal Trousseau, if you are booking an exclusive bridal session. Out of these shops it is honestly a tie between Kat the Label and Bras N’ Things as my favs. Bars N’ Things is an amazing go to; they have a decent amount of diversity in options, have good quality items, are a classic lingerie vibe and are a fair price. Kat the Label has a bit more of a boho vibe but their items are beautiful, reasonably priced, and reliable.

Finally, our higher price range shops; these include Honey Birdette, Agent Provocateur and Mari Moth Lingerie. My favorite by far is Honey Birdette; they have a fantastic range of props as well as lingerie. My personal favorite specific type of lingerie is their strappy, slightly kinky, and bold lingerie but there are other options there as well!

Though we have mentioned many online and in store venues we want to explicitly express that we are in no way affiliated with these venues or being paid to advertise their names.. we truly just adore these venues! And of course, there are endless online and in store options that are not mentioned here, but we hope this can start you off on your lingerie journey and steer you in the right direction!
